Mestiza
Co-written with the legendary David Batteau, "Mestiza" is a cross pollination of Latin and North American Musical Influences that cuts across genre and language. Transitions from Spanish to English suddenly augment the many hues of these original compositions, both within the songs as well as from one to another. The aptly titled work (Mestiza means woman of mixed race) draws from Perla’s varied heritage and leaves a haunting impression in the heart.

Bird on the Wire
" Perla Batalla here lovingly wraps her warm voice around 10 of Leonard Cohen’s masterpieces to glorious results. Beautifully conceived and executed, it is every bit the equal of Jennifer Warnes classic Cohen tribute album Famous Blue Raincoat. For those uninitiated to the glories of the songs of Leonard Cohen this is a wonderful introduction. For the rest of us it is simply heavenly…" - Michael Tearson (Sing Out Magazine)
